We’ve make a lot of various types of Pizzas through the years (and we have many more yet to come). But in all of our posts, we had not yet turned any of our pizza dough into the classic and revered pizzeria side dish, the garlic knot! I know…what in tarnation were we thinking with that omission?!? Well, fear knot. We are here to remedy that today.
These garlicky morsels are very easy to make, and they are so tasty. All you need is a few ingredients, some time, and either knuckles or a stand mixer, and you can have a batch all to yourself…or to share with family and friends, I suppose.

Time: 90 Minutes
Ingredients:
- 2 Cups of All Purpose Flour
- 1 Tablespoon Yeast. We used Instant, but active dry will work too.
- 1 Teaspoon White Sugar
- 1 Teaspoon Salt
- 2 Teaspoons Garlic Powder
- A good sprinkle of Dried Oregano
- A good sprinkle of Dried Basil
- 1 Cup of Warm Water
- Butter
- Parmesan Cheese
- More Garlic Powder
Method:
- Combine all your dry ingredients (except for the Parmesan Cheese and the “More Garlic Powder”) into the bowl of your stand mixer.
- Add in your water, and use your dough hook to mix, combine your ingredients into a dough ball, and knead to develop the gluten structure.
- As your dough kneads, give a large bowl a quick oil spray.
- When your dough is formed, transfer it to your bowl, and cover with plastic cling wrap, and let rise for an hour.
- Towards the end of your rise time, preheat your oven to 425 degrees F, and get your butter, Parmesan Cheese and “More Garlic Powder” ready to go.
- Flour a cutting board, and cut your dough into strips.
- Roll the strips to lengthen, and then fold/tie them into a knot shape. Then, place on your baking sheet.
- Once all your knots are made, melt some butter in the microwave, and brush it liberally atop each knot.
- Sprinkle more garlic powder and some parmesan cheese on each knot, and then stash in the oven.
- Bake for 20 minutes.
- Dip, Devour, and Enjoy!
