Apple Pork Burgers

Few meats and fruits pair as well as pork and apples. There are a handful of different ways to meld the two ingredients…pork loin with braised apples, pork chops and apple sauce, etc…but today, we wanted to create something that we saw on a menu in Wales. Sadly, I can only say that we “saw it on a menu” because they were out of it by the time we got there. Alas, I ground up some pork, my wife bought some fresh kaiser rolls, and this meal was destined to happen. We put a slice of fresh apple under the burgers, crumbled blue cheese, tomatoes, and spinach on top, and used a bbq sauce to build up the salty/sweet flavour combination.

These would pair very well with veggie sides (Roasted Asparagus, Butter Cabbage, or Brussels Sprouts) and/or Home Fries or Baked Sweet Potato Fries.
