BBQ Poutine

We’ve been having a lot of fun playing with the concept of Poutine ever since returning from our trip to Canada in December…and we’d noticed that any time we ate it, our football team won! So given that we were in the midst of a playoff run, we decided to enjoy this culinary delight while also providing what we thought would be good luck to the Bills. Well, only one such thing happened, as the season ended the night we cooked this…but the food was good!

For this one, we decided to go a little wild, so we started with a base of sweet potato fries instead of a traditional French fry. We picked those because we thought that they’d complement the sweet tanginess of the BBQ sauce well (and they did). From there, we added our cheese curds and finished it off with a jackfruit smothered in a BBQ “Gravy.” However, we think that this would lend itself nicely to pulled pork or chicken instead if you want something meatier.

Finally, we finished our meal with a side of Steamed Broccoli, which added a nice texture contrast and some vibrant colour to our meal!

Time: 60 Minutes (+ any time to slow cook your pork/chicken if not using pre-cooked…or time to Break Down your Jackfruit if not using pre-packaged)
