I decided to make these to celebrate my sous chef’s first game of the new little league season. The original idea was to make Meatballs that resembled baseballs…but then as I was rounding third, I decided to go for home and all the glory by plating the dinner to look like a baseball field! The concept and execution were a home run (as judged by the gigantic smile it generated when I put dinner on the table).
To complete build our plating, we used vegetable stock seasoned couscous for our infield sand and spinach for our outfield grass. Lastly, my sous chef sliced up some pineapple for dugouts (not pictured, as it was a post-picture addition). That said, these would also work really well on toothpicks as an appetizer or snack for your game-day enjoyment!
Time: 25 Minutes
- Ground Turkey
- Bread Crumbs
- Garlic Powder
- Roasted Red Pepper Strips
- Preheat your oven to 350 degrees F, line a baking sheet with foil, and give it a quick oil spray to prevent sticking.
- Combine your ground turkey, egg, bread crumbs, and garlic powder in a large bowl, and mix to combine (adding more bread crumbs as necessary).
- When your consistency is right, roll your meaty concoction into balls, and place each atop your baking sheet.
- Arrange your red pepper slices on your meatballs to look like the laces of a baseball.
- Transfer to the oven, and bake for 20-23 minutes (or until your meatballs reach a minimum internal temperature of 165 degrees F).
- (Home) Plate, devour, and enjoy!
